Sir Terry Frost is one of Britain's most successful and highly acclaimed artists of the Twentieth Century. This was recognized in the 1998 New Years Honours List when Terry was granted a Knighthood.
Born in 1915, Terry discovered his artistic talent during four years he spent as a Prisoner of War in the Second World War. On his return to England he studied at the Camberwell School of Arts and Crafts, enjoying the flourishing artistic scenes of London and St Ives. By the late 1950s he had become established as a leading abstract painter, exhibiting regularly in London and throughout the world.
Printmaking has always played a key role in Terry's work. For him painting and printmaking are inseparable, with one medium creating ideas for the other. He has enjoyed a career spanning six decades, most of which has been spent living and working in St. Ives, Cornwall. He was elected to the Royal Academy in London in 1992 and was knighted in 1998. 2000 saw a retrospective show in the Royal Academy, which coincided with his 85th birthday. Terry continues to exhibit world wide, retaining all his passion and exuberance for both art and life.
